The sum of three consecutive natural numbers is 51. Find the numbers.
Let the three consecutive natural numbers be x,(x+1) and (x+2)
It is given that, sum of three consecutive natural numbers is 51.
⇒x+(x+1)+(x+2)=51
⇒3x+3=51
⇒3x+3−3=51−3 [Subtracting 3 from both the sides]
⇒3x=48
⇒3x3=483 [Dividing both the sides by 3]
⇒x=16
⇒x+1=16+1=17
⇒x+2=16+2=18
Thus, the three natural numbers are 16, 17 and 18.
