Let the two consecutive multiples of 2 be 2x and 2x+2.
According to the question,
2x + 2x + 2 = 18
$\Rightarrow 4 x + 2 = 18 \Rightarrow 4 x = 18 - 2 [t r a n s p o s i n g 2 t o R H S] \Rightarrow 4 x = 16 \Rightarrow \frac{4 x}{4} = \frac{16}{4} [d i v i d i n g b o t h s i d e s b y 2] \Rightarrow x = 4$
Hence, the required numbers are 2x = $2 \times 4 = 8$ and 2x+2 = $2 \times 4 + 2 = 10.$
