The sum of two expressions is $5 x^{2} - 3 y^{2}$ . If one of them is $3 x^{2} + 4 x y - y^{2}$ , find the other.

Find the other expression
Given: Sum of two expressions $= 5 x^{2} - 3 y^{2}$
One of the expression $= 3 x^{2} + 4 x y - y^{2}$
$∴$ Other expression
$= (5 x^{2} - 3 y^{2}) - (3 x^{2} + 4 x y - y^{2})$
$= 5 x^{2} - 3 y^{2} - 3 x^{2} - 4 x y + y^{2}$
$= (5 x^{2} - 3 x^{2}) - 4 x y + (- 3 y^{2} + y^{2})$
$= 2 x^{2} - 4 x y - 2 y^{2}$

Hence the other expression is $2 x^{2} - 4 x y - 2 y^{2}$
