Let the first number be x then the second number will be 16−x so, that the sum of the two numbers remains 16.
Sum of their reciprocal will be,
1x+116−x=13
⇒16−x+xx(16−x)=13
⇒16×3=16x−x2
⇒x2−16x+48=0
⇒x−12x−4x+48=0
⇒(x−12)(x−4)=0
⇒x=12,4
