The sum of two numbers is 6 times their geometric mean show that numbers are in the ratio (3+22):(322)

Let the two numbers are a and b.
Thus their G.M=ab
According to the given condition, a+b=6ab....(1)
(a+b)2=36(ab)
Also, (ab)2=(a+b)24ab=36ab4ab=32abab=32ab=42ab ........(2)
Adding (1) and (2) , we obtain 2a=(6+42)ab
a=(3+22)ab
Substituting the value of a in (1), we obtain b=6ab(3+22)ab
b=(322)abab=(3+22)ab(322)ab=3+22322
Thus , the required ratio is (3+22):(322)
