The correct option is A 4 and 5
Let the numbers are x and y Then by hypothesis
x+y=9 ....(i)
x2+y2=41 ....(ii)
Substituting this value in equation (i) we get
x2(9x)2=41
or x2+8118x+x2=41
or 2x218x+40=0
or x29x+20=0
or (x5)(x4)=0
x=5 or x=4
Then y=9x=95=4
or y=94=5
