Question

The surface area of a sphere of radius 5 cm is five times the area of the curved surface of a cone of radius 4 cm. Find the height of the cone.

Open in App
Solution

Radius of a sphere (r)=5cm

Surface area=4πr2

=4π×5×5=100πcm2

Radius of cone (r1) = 4 cm

Curved Surface =100π5 cm2

=20π cm2

Slant height(l)=Areaπr

=20ππ×4 = 5cm

Now height (h) =l2r2

=(5)2(4)2=2516 cm

9=3 cm
