Terylene is a popular polyester, is a synthetic polymer which contains ester groups. It is made up of repeating units of a chemical called as an ester. The chemical compounds used in the preparation of polyester are made from petroleum products called petrochemicals.

Ester are the functional groups which have a pleasant smell. They are also said to have a fruity smell. Esters are used in making artificial perfumes and scents.

Properties of Polyester :
Polyester is cheap and durable, wrinkle-free, stronger than nylon fibereasy to wash, not attacked by moths.
