The taxi charges in a city comprise of a fixed charge together with the charge for the distance covered. For a journey of 10 km, the charge paid are Rs. 75 and for a journey of 15 km, the charges paid are Rs. 110. What will a person have to pay for travelling a distance of 25 km?

Let the fixed charge be $x$ and charge of distance covered be $y$ per km.

According to the question,

$x+10y=75$ …… (1)

$x+15y=110$ …… (2)

Solving equations (1) and (2), we get

$x=Rs.5$ and $y=Rs.7$

Therefore, total charge to cover a distance of $25km$,

$\Rightarrow 5+25\times 7=5+175=Rs.180$

Hence, this is the required result.
