The taxi fare in a city follows the following fare scheme; the first kilometre's fare is Rs.8 and from then on its Rs. 5 / km. assuming the total distance a passenger travelled as x and the fare he paid as Rs. y. write a linear equation for this and draw a graph for it.

Total distance $=x$ km

Fare for first km$=8$ Rs.

For remaining $(x-1)km$

Fare $=(x-1)5$ Rs.

Total fare $=y=8+(x-1)5=5x+8-5$

$=5x+3$

at $x=0,y=3$ $\Rightarrow$ $P(0,3)$

at $x=-4,y=8$ $\Rightarrow$ $Q(+1,8)$
