The correct option is C 6.1 Min.
We solve this problem by an approximation method that makes use of mean temperature. The approximation errors are small because temperature differences are not large.

The mean temperature of the body as it cools from 40C to 36C is Tm1=(40+36)2=38C.

Newton's law of cooling can be written as
ΔTΔt=b(TmTs)

(3640)5=b(3816),

Which gives b=0.822 Min1
Note that ΔTΔt is negative.

Let the time taken for the temperature to become 32C be t.

During this interval, Tm2=(36+32)2=34C

(3236)t=b(3416)

4t=(0.822)18,

t=6.1 Min.
