Question

The time taken by laser to travel from tower A to tower B and then to reflect back to tower A from a mirror on tower B is 0.0001 seconds. Calculate the distance between the two towers (15km).

Open in App
Solution

Let the distance between two towers be 'd'
When laser goes from A to B and then back to A, total distance covered = 2d
Time taken in covering the distance = 0.0001s
Speed of light = 3,00,000 km/s
Using, distance = speed × time
2d = 3,00,000 × 0.0001
2d = 30 km
d = 15 km
Therefore, distance between two towers is 15km.
