The top of a mountain is 1270 feet above sea level. The bottom of a valley is 650 feet below sea level. How high is the mountain top from the bottom of the valley?​

The top of mountain is above the sea level and the bottom of valley is below the sea level.​
So, we will denote height above sea level as positive and depth below sea level as negative.​

Hence, height of top of mountain = +1270 feet​
And depth of bottom of valley = - 650 feet​

Thus, distance between the top of mountain and bottom of valley is:​
1270 - (- 650) = 1270 + 650 = 1920 feet
