Solution

The correct option is C 0 N-m, 10 J
Given,
magnetic field strength, B=5 T,

magnetic moment, μ=2 Am2,

Torque of a magnetic dipole, τ=μ×Bτ=μBsinθ

And magnetic potential energy, U=μ.B=μBcosθMagnetic dipole remains in most stable position when its magnetic potential energy is minimum, i.e, when the magnetic field vector is parallel to the magnetic moment vector.

So, at θ=0, the dipole will be in its most stable position.

τ=μBsin0=0

U=μBcos0=2×5=10 J

Hence, option (c) is the correct answer.
