Solution

Case 1 : Let here be xm of cloth initially.
Cost of xm cloth =Rs 200
of 1m initially =Rs 200x
Case 2: Piece is 5m longer, i.e. x +5 m
cost/meter is Rs 2 less i.e. Rs 200x2
Total price =(x+5) (200x2)=200 (Given that total price is unchanged)
(x+5)(200x2)=200x(200x)2x+5×200x5×2=2002002x+1000x10=200190+1000x2x=2001000x2x=10500xx=5500x2=5xx2+5x500=0
x2+25x20x500=0x(x+25)20(x+25)=0(x20)(x+25)=0x=20,25
Length cannot be -ve, i.e. length 15 20 m
cost/meter originrally =200x=20020=Rs10
