The correct option is A 4 A
From the given circuit we can see that the 2 Ω & 6 Ω resistors are connected between same points i.e both the ends of resistors have same potential difference, hence they are in parallel combination.

The circuit can be redrawn as shown below


For two resistors in parallel connection we can use,

Req=R1R2R1+R2

For 6 Ω and 2 Ω,

Req=6×26+2=32 Ω

Thus replacing the combination of resistors by Req we get,


The net resistance of circuit is 32 Ω, thus current in the circuit as supplied by battery will be,

i=VRnet=6(32)

i=123=4 A
