The number of chiral centres in the given compound is 2. So we have two possibility in which both the chiral centres have same configuration and other with different configuration.

So the number of possible diastereomeric pairs are
(i). (R,R) and (R,S)
(ii). (S,S) and (R,S)

Here, (R,S) is a meso compound due to the presence of plane of symmetry.

Therefore, the total number of diastereomeric pairs are 2.
