Let the number of elements in set A be p and set B be q.

The power set of A is P(A) and B is P(B).

P(A) has 2p elements and P(B) has 2q elements.

Thus, 2p-2q=56

2q[2p-q1]=8×72q2p-q1=2323-1

Comparing L.H.S. and R.H.S.

q=3,pq=3

p-3=3

p=6

Therefore number of elements in set A is 6.
