Solution

The correct option is B All of the above
Prolonged dry season and severe winters do result in the shedding of leaves by trees. Tropical deciduous trees shed their leaves during the dry season because of excess evaporation and temperate deciduous trees shed their leaves during severe winters. Tropical deciduous forests are found in north-eastern states, along with the foothills of Himalayas, Jharkhand, West Orissa and Chhattisgarh and on the eastern slopes of the Western Ghats. But the eastern side of the Western Ghats do not have a dry spell for long, have sufficient humidity and do not have severe winters.

So the correct option is 'All of the above'.
