Question

The triple points of neon and carbon dioxide are 24.57 K and 216.55 K respectively. Express these temperatures on the Celsius and Fahrenheit scales

Open in App
Solution

Given:

Triple points of neon =24.57K

Triple points of carbon dioxide =216.55K

The conversion from Kelvin scale to Celsius is given as,

T K 273.15= T C

The temperature of neon on Celsius scale is,

T C ne =24.57273.15 =248.58 o C

The temperature of carbon dioxide on Celsius scale is,

T C Co 2 =216.55273.15 =56.60 o C

Now, the relation between Fahrenheit scale and Kelvin scale is,

T F = 9 5 ( T K 273.15 )+32

The temperature of neon on Fahrenheit scale is,

T F = 9 5 ( 24.57273.15 )+32 =415.44 o F

The temperature of carbon dioxide on Fahrenheit scale is,

T F = 9 5 ( 216.55273.15 )+32 =69.88 o F
