Solution

Given,m1=3 kg,

m2=2 kg,t=during 4th sec

From the freebody diagram,

T3g+3a=0...(i)

T2g2a=0 ...(ii)

Equating (i) and (ii), we get,

3g3a=2g+2a

a=g5m/sec2

Distance travelled in 4th sec is given by,

S 4th=a2(2n1)

=(g5)2(2×41)

=7g10=7×9.810m

Net mass'm' =m1m2=32=akg

So, decrease in P.E.=mgh

1×9.8×(710)×9.8=67.2 J
