Let $f (x) =$ $a^{2} - 16$ and $g (x) =$ $8 (a - 4)$
Factor of $a^{2} - 16 = (a + 4) (a - 4)$
So, H.C.F $=$ $(a - 4)$
L.C.M $=$ $8 (a^{2} - 16)$
