Solution

The correct option is B

Inductively linked

Transformer:

  1. It is a device used for converting low alternating voltage at high current into a high voltage at low current and vice-versa.
  2. Itworksontheprincipleofmutualinduction.
  3. If two coils are inductively coupled and when current or magnetic flux is changed through one of the two coils, then induced e.m.f is produced in the other coil.
  4. To minimize eddy currents, the soft iron core is laminated.

Transformers are of 2 types:

Step-up transformer:

  1. In this type, the number of turns in the secondary coil (NS) is greater than the number of turns in the primary coil (NP).
  2. It converts a low voltage at a high current into a high voltage at a low current.

Step-down transformer:

1. In this type, the number of turns in the secondary coil (NS) is less than the number of turns in the primary coil (NP).

2. It converts a high voltage at a low current into a low voltage at a high current.

Hence, The two windings of a transformer are, Inductively linked.

Therefore, option (B) is the correct answer.
