The statement is true, since each crop requires different things out of the soil. For example,
1. Soil rich in clay and organic matter with good water retention capacity is ideal for paddy.
2. Wheat requires soil that is rich in humus and fertile. So clayey soil is good for growing wheat.
3. Loamy soil, which drains water easily, is suitable for lentils and other pulses, which don't need the water to stay in the soil for a longer time.
4. For cotton, sandy-loam which can drain water and can hold plenty of air, is more suitable.
