Question

The universal source of energy in all cell s?

Open in App
Solution

The nucleotide coenzyme adenosine triphosphate(ATP) is the most important form of chemical energy in all cells. All fuel sources of Nature, all foodstuffs of living things, produce ATP, which in turn powers virtually every activity of the cell and organism.

ATP is just adenosine attached to three phosphates:
A - P - P - P

The bond between A - P - P and the last P is unstable and can store energy so that when the bond is broken, energy is released..

A - P - P is adenosine diphosphate (ADP)

ATP --> ADP + P + energy
