Solution

The correct option is D

1:3

STEP 1: GIVEN DATA

CASE 1 (FIRST LIQUID)

Let the Initial velocity of sound is v1

after that velocity is increased by 50%

so the final velocity of sound is v2= v1+50100v1=1.5v1

λ1,λ2arewavelengthsrespectively

STEP 2: EXPLANATION

vαλ

Velocity=Wavelength×frequency

v=f×λ
frequency is same

so, vαλ

v1v2=λ1λ2

v11.5v1=λ1λ2

λ2=1.5λ1

percentage%increaseinwavelength=λ2-λ1λ1×100

=1.5λ1-λ1λ1×100

=50%

CASE(2): ( SECOND LIQUID)

Let the Initial velocity of sound is v3

After that velocity is increased by 50%

So, the final velocity of sound is v4= v3+150100v3=2.5v3

λ3,λ4arewavelengthsrespectively

STEP 2: EXPLANATION

so, vαλ

v3v4=λ3λ4

v32.5v3=λ3λ4

λ3=1.5λ4

percentage%increaseinwavelength=λ3-λ4λ3×100

=2.5λ3-λ4λ3×100

=150%

Hencetheratioofpercentageincrease%inwavelengthintwocases=50150=13

option 'D’ is the correct answer
