The velocity-time graph of a train traveling between two stations is plotted below.
a) Find the acceleration of the train at t = 3 s.
b) Find the displacement of the train after 12 seconds.

a) The slope of velocitytime graph gives acceleration
Slope=(y2y1)/(x2x1)
Slope=(60)/(30)
=2m/s2
So the acceleration of the train at t=3 is 2 m/s2.

b) Displacement of the train after 12 s = area under v-t curve till l2 s.
Displacement=Area=½×6×12+12×6
=36+72
=108 m
