Question

The volume and the curved surface area of a cylinder are 1650cm3 and 660cm2 respectively. Find the radius and height of the cylinder.

Open in App
Solution

Volume of cylinder = 1650cm3
and curved surface area = 660cm2
Let r be the radius and h be the height of the cylinder, then
πr2h=1650 ...(i)
and 2πrh=660 ...(ii)
Dividing,
πr2h2πrh=1650660r2=522r=10r=102=5
Substituting the value of r in (ii),
2π×5h=6602×227×5h=660
h=660×72×22×5=21
Radius= 5cm
and height= 21cm
