According to the question,

$\Rightarrow a^3=729$

$\Rightarrow a^3=729=9^3$

$\therefore a=9cm$

Hence, surface area of cube$=6a^2$

$=6(9{)}^{2}c{m}^2$

$=6\times 81=486c{m}^2$
