The volume of a cylinder is 150π cm3 and its height is 6 cm. Find the area of its total surface and lateral surface.
Given: Volume of cylinder =150π cm3=150×227 cm3
and, height, h=6 cm
The volume of the cylinder is given by π×r2×h
⇒227×radius2×height=150×227
⇒radius2=150×227×(722)×1height
⇒r2=150×16=25
⇒r2=5×5
⇒r=5
Total surface area =2×π×r(r+h)
=2×227×5(5+6)
=2×227×5×11=345.7 cm2
lateral surface area =2×π×r×h
=2×227×6×5=188.5 cm2
