Question

The volume of a solid cylinder is 448πcm3 and height 7cm. Find its lateral surface area and total surface area ?

Open in App
Solution

Volume of solid cylinder =448πcm3

And height of the cylinder=basearea×height =7cm

We know that volume of the cylinder =πr2h

Where r is the radius of the cylinder and h is the height of the cylinder.

So πr2h=448π

πr2h=448πr2×7=448r2=4487=64r=64=8cm

Lateral surface area =2πrh

After putting the values of r and h

2πrh=2×227×8×7=352cm2

Total surface area=2πrh+2πr2 =2πr(r+h)=2×227×8(8+7)=2×227×8(15)=2×227×120=52807=754.28cm2
