Question

The volume of a solid hemisphere is 1152πcm3. Find its curved surface area.

Open in App
Solution

We know that the volume of hemisphere with radius r is V=23πr3.

It is given that the volume of hemisphere isV=1152π cm3 and thus,

V=23πr31152π=23πr3r3=1152×32=1728r=31728=12

Therefore, the radius of hemisphere is 12 cm.

We also know that the curved surface area of hemisphere with radius r is A=2πr2.

Here, the radius of hemisphere is 12 cm, thus,

A=2πr2=2×227×(12)2=2×227×144=905.14cm2

Hence, the curved surface area of hemisphere is 905.14 cm2.
