Solution:- (C) 2.16J
As the heat is liberated,
q=10J
Now, as we know that the work done is given as-
W=Pext.ΔV
Given:-
Pext.=0.6atm
V1=500cc
V2=300cc
ΔV=300500=200cc=0.2L
W=0.6×(0.2)=0.12Latm=12.16J
Now, from first law of thermodynamics,
ΔU=q+W
ΔU=10+12.16=2.16J
Hence the change in internal energy is 2.16J.
