Parasitoidism is a form of parasitism, in that an organism invades another organism (host) for a certain period of time. It is different from parasitism in that true parasitism does not cause death of the host, but parasitoidism usually leads to death of the host. An example for parasitoidism is when the host organism is used as a nursery for young. The parasitoid wasps called Glypatapanteles and the caterpillar is an example for this. The wasps lay up to 80 eggs onto a live caterpillar, when they hatch the larvae eat their way through the caterpillar.
