The correct option is C 40 cm
For the shortest possible length, it should be allowing fundamental frequency resonance.
In fundamental frequency,
L=λ2L=2π/k2(k=2πλ)L=πk
From y=0.5sin(0.025πx)cos(500t)k=0.025π
(on comparing with y=Asin(kx)cos(ωt))
L=π0.025π=100025[L=40cm]
Hence option (C) is correct
