Given: The wave function (in S.I. units) for an electromagnetic wave is given as- ψ(x,t)=103sinπ(3×106x9×1014t)
To find the speed of the wave
Solution:
We know electromagnetic wave eqution is
E=E0cos(kzωt)
And given equation is
ψ(x,t)=103sinπ(3×106x9×1014t)
By comparing these two, we get
ω=9×1014 and
k=3×106
we also know,
Speed of electromagnetic wave, v=ωk
where v is the speed of the light
Hence, v=9×10143×106v=3×108m/s
is the speed of the wave
