The wavelength of a sound wave is 66m. Calculate the frequency of the wave if the velocity of sound is 330m/s. Would this sound be audible to the human ear?

Wavelength of sound wave (λ)=66m

Velocity of sound (V)=330m/s

Step 2: Formula used:

Speed of sound is given as, V=fλ

where fis Frequency

Step 3: Calculating the frequency of the wave:

Using the formula, V=fλ

f=Vλ

f=330m/s66m

f=5Hz.

We know that humans can detect sounds in a frequency range from about 20Hzto 20kHz.

Hence, this sound (f=5Hz) is not audible to the human ear.
