The wavelength of waves produced on the surface of the water is 20 cm. If the wave velocity is 24 m/s calculate the number of waves produced in one second.

λ=20cm=20100m=0.2m

1.1 Velocity, v=24m/s

Step 2 Formula Used,

2 If f is the frequency, λis the wavelength and v is the velocity of the wave, then

v=fλf=vλ

Step 3 Calculation,

f=240.2f=24×100.2×10f=2402f=120Hz

The number of waves produced in one second, frequency = 120Hz
