Solution

The correct option is C 176 kg
Final weight of the ball can be found by subtracting the weight 2/3 kg from the initial weight of the ball.

Hence,
Initial weight of the ball = 312 = 72 kg
The equivalent of 72 = 216 kg

On the number line, this lies between 3 and 4, and at 3 parts out of 6 parts i.e.,

Reduced weight of ball = 23 kg
Since the equivalent of 23 = 46 lb

On subtracting,
Final weight = 72 - 23
= 216 - 46
= 176
= 256 kg

Since the weight is being subtracted, the final weight lies 4 units left of 216 on the number line i.e. at 176 kg.

Therefore, option (c) is the correct answer.
