Question

The weight of a body in air is W g and weight in water is X g.find the buoyant force.also find the volume of the object and the buoyant force when dipped in a liquid of 2g/cc.

Open in App
Solution

weight in air= Wg
weight in water= Xg

Bouyant force= weight in air- weight in liquid
= Wg - Xg
given,
density of liquid = 2g/cc

density= Mass/ volume

As mass = weight/ gravity
mass = (Wg-Xg)/9.8

As object is dipped in liquid, the volume of liquid displaced is equal to volume of the object

Now, volume = mass / density
= Wg-Xg/ 9.8*2

therefore, Volume= (Wg-Xg)/ 19.6 cc

Now,
Buoyant force = density * volume * g
= 2* (Wg-Xg)/ 19.6 * 9.8

Therefore,
buoyant force = Wg-Xg
