Solution

The correct option is B 55,000
Weight of a cement bag = 55 kg
Number of bags = 1,000
Weight of 1000 bags = ?

Weight of 1000 bags
= Weight of each cement bag x Number of bags
= 55 x 1000

In order to multiply by a number ending in zeros, we first need to multiply the number as if it didn't have zeros, and then we just write all of the zeros the number had, on the right of the final answer.

We know, 55 x 1 = 55
Since 1000 has three zeros in it, we get,
55 x 1000 = 55000

Therefore, weight of 1,000 bags is 55,000 kg.
