The western slopes of the Western Ghats receive more rain than the eastern slopes. Why?

Eastern region of Western Ghats lie in the rain shadow region. Western Ghats are very tall that it blocks moisture-laden south-west winds to reach eastern slopes and hence receives scanty rainfall. Thus western slopes of Western Ghats receive more rainfall than eastern slopes.
