Solution

The correct option is A

True

Sulphates are salts of sulphuric acid. Sulphates are produced by the reaction of sulphuric acid reacts with some metals, alkalies and carbonates.

To check if a given salt is a sulphate or not follow the steps.

1) Add some barium chloride to an aqueous solution of the salt given to you. This should result in the formation of a white precipitate. The chemical equation of the reaction is :

Na2SO4+BaCl2BaSO4+2NaCl

2) Add a little hydrochloric acid to the white precipitate formed.

If the white precipitate formed is insoluble in the acid then the given salt is a sulphate.

Since we are given that the salt is sulphate and the white precipitate does not dissolve in HCl. The statement in the question is true.
