The width of expansion joint gap is 2.5 cm in a cement concrete pavement. If the temperature is 20 (and maximum slab temperature in summer is 54C then the spacing between expansion joints will be _____ m

T1=20C
T2=54C
The joint filler is assumed to be compressed upto 50% of its thickness
δ=δ2=(2.52)=1.25 cm

δ=Leα(T2T1)

1.25×102=Le×17×106×(5420)

Le=1.25×10217×106×(5420)

=21.63 m
