The wooden doors gets jammed in rainy season ...

Open in App
Solution

The woods have a very much porous surface, so the water or moisture content easily migrate into the pores of the wood. This usually happens due to imbibition , it is diffusion where water molecules are absorbed by solids, which increases in its volume. imbibition is always towards the concentration gradients, hence solid colloid like wood absorbs water and swell in size, due to increase in size of door it gets jammed.
