The word ‘it’ in the second paragraph refers to
first moments of creation
The word ‘it’ must be referring to something proximate to its position. The central question that the mutants asked is how the universe was created. For 2000 years the question has agitated minds. Now the author and his class of mutants can almost glimpse the story but for some missing link that blurs understanding. So, ‘Story of creation’ is a good candidate for answer choice.
Is the author referring to beauty and symmetry in the laws that regulated creation? The author must be perceiving and wanting to perceive more than simple beauty and symmetry. These are definitely attributes of creation, however, creation in itself must be focus of attention.
So, answer choice (a) is better than (b).
What about answer choice (c)? The original question and indeed the focus of curiosity is how it all started. So first moments of creation process would throw light on the ‘how’ question. This, the author and his fellow seekers are nearly able to visualize. Thus, (c) is even a better answer choice than (a) and (b).
The answer choice (d) is not correct because the dark force is limiting the vision. This is not something which makes the author elated. The tone of the first two paragraphs would rule this choice. Hence (c).
