(i) Will the emission be possible?
(ii) Why?

Solution

(i) The emission will not be possible .
(ii) The work function is the minimum amount of energy required to eject out electrons from metal surface .In photoelectric emission , one photon gives its whole energy to one electrons and in the given condition , each photon has energy less than the work function therefore electrons will not be emitted .
