Let’s assume that x pairs of toys are left in the shop.
Total number of toys =160
Number of pairs =160÷2
Let’s use the area model.

160÷2=80
There were 80 pairs of toys.
Therefore, there were 80 pairs of toys in the shop.
After 20 pairs of toys are sold,
x=8020=60 pairs of toys are left
Therefore, 60 pairs of toys are left in the shop.
