Here, 2,3,6,9 and 18 are factors of 18.
Total number of rings = Number of rings in 1 group $\times$ Number of groups
Doing the factorization of 18, we will get:
$18=1\times 18$
$=2\times 9$
$=3\times 6$
$=6\times 3$
$=9\times 2$
$=18\times 1$
Here, we are making groups of 3 rings in each group.
So, number of groups made = 6
