There are 3 semicircles in the given figure. AB = 14 cm and C is the midpoint of AB. Find the perimeter and area of the figure. [3 MARKS]

Solution: 1.5 Marks

Perimeter of 2 small semicircles
=2πr where r=72 cm

2×227×72=22 cm

Length of the arc of the large semicircle
=πR where R=7 cm

227×7=22 cm

Total Perimeter
=2πr+πR=22+22=44 cm

Total area of the figure = Area of two small semicircles + Area of one large semicircle

=πr2+πR22=227×(72)2+12227×72

=38.5+77=115.5cm2
